Greek Revival was the style of classical architecture which became fashionable in Europe in the 18th century, and in the United Kingdom and United States in the early 19th century. It rebelled against a fussy Palladian style (after Andrea Palladio), which was based upon definitive Italian styles & instead relied for its beauty on the form and proportions of ancient Greek temples.
These are considered a number one National style of the United States. around a late 18th century there was the rise around the interest in classical architecture in two Europe & the United States. By owning public buildings according to a Roman style of architecture, per 1820's, Us shifted supplementary towards a Greek style. This was from either several factors: A War of 1812 induced Americans to sense contempt towards anything British, including architecture. A Roman, or even Federal style, was no yearn favorite. Greece was now scanned at a avowedly house of Democracy, and a Mother of Rome. Besides, Greece got begun her war of independence against a Ottoman Empire in 1821, invoking lot sympathy from either a fresh independent United States. A Greek Revival style would in time exist as referred to as a National style.
